Embrace the Errors

                 Before the Adventure                             Graduation Day

June 2010:   The inaugural class of Levine Scholars at UNC-Charlotte embarked on a 25 day NOLS backpacking summer experience in Landers, Wyoming.

In total we hiked over 100 miles carrying between 45 - 65 pounds of equipment we needed to survive along the trails of the Absorokas Mountain range.
Withing the first couple of days we quickly realized the extent of our isolation and dependence on eachother to guide through rock quarries, up 11,200 feet cliffs, and over cascading waterfalls.  We made countless of hiking mistakes: improper shoe/sock alignment (blisters), insecure shoulder staps and weight adjustment in the pack (backache/nect strain), and undercooked or overseasoned rehydrated meals (angry stomachs and cooking crew).

Yet, slowly, our blisters and backaches healed and each of us were capable of fixing at least one palletable stove top meal

-- pancakes and cinnamon rolls were my specialty--

Enjoy the evidence of being "in the process" of learning:

Case in Point:  Learing from the errors makes you both you and your insides HaPpIeR :)

I took all of the pictures throughout "Embrass the Errors" during the 2010 NOLS adventure.  Each photo is subject to copyright and cannot be redistributed without my approval.  Thank you for understanding, and hope you enjoyed these additional elements of my portfolio.
